A hackathon is a collaborative coding event where participants work together to build innovative projects or solutions within a limited timeframe, usually ranging from a few hours to several days. It's a creative environment where developers, designers, and problem-solvers come together to brainstorm, code, and create something amazing from scratch.

SPARK wraps up with three flagship events: Replica, a pixel-for-pixel website recreation challenge using only HTML and CSS; Graphica, an 8-hour design-and-development hackathon where you build something from scratch; and FSOC (Freshers Season of Code), a mini GSoC-style event where you contribute to real projects by solving beginner-friendly issues. Each has its own prize pool up for grabs.

Not at all. SPARK is built for first-year students with zero prior experience, just curiosity and a willingness to learn. The timeline sessions cover VS Code, HTML, CSS, Git & GitHub, and JavaScript before the hackathons even begin, and seniors are on campus throughout to help.

It depends on the event. Replica is an individual challenge testing your own HTML/CSS skills, while Graphica and FSOC are best tackled with a small team so you can split up design, development, and problem-solving. Exact team-size rules are in each event's RuleBook.

Expect a fast-paced few hours: a problem statement or theme dropped at the start, a ticking clock, and you (or your team) building, debugging, and polishing a project before the deadline. You'll submit your work for judging on difficulty, code, and creativity, then wrap up with prizes for the top entries.

Yes, please bring your own laptop. Don't worry if it's not set up yet, our very first session on 25 July walks you through installing VS Code and getting comfortable with it before we start writing any code.
